It’s not often that a person wears the hats of both mayor and published author. But with the release of her book The Journey’s Middle in June, Willernie Mayor Barb Parent becomes one of those illustrious few.
Inspired by a trip to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Parent began penning a fantasy tale that revolves around Nissa, a princess coming of age, and includes a kidnapping, intriguing locales and a host of mysterious folk like the evil regent, the Günnary, along with the Huntress and the elusive Neebings.
Parent has already finished one follow-up book that she is hoping to release mid-winter and has a good start on a third; she’s excited but “ still amazed that this is happening,” she says.
