Big Wood Brewery invites all intrigued by beer and the brewing process to tour their space with one of their brew-masters on the first Friday of the month.
Typically led by brew-master Ty McBee, the tours allow participants to ask “anything they’d like to about the brewing process, Big Wood Brewery or anything else beer-related that they’d like to discuss with an expert in the industry,” Trevis Carletta, marketing and events coordinator, says.
Big Wood began offering tours after opening their White Bear Lake Brewery & Taproom location in 2014. Not only are tours offered as a chance to help people understand the science and process behind brewing, but also to give them an opportunity to try brews unavailable in stores.
Each tour varies based on what the group is interested in. Open to all ages, the number of participants comes capped at 25 per tour group, and reservations are made online.
The free tour comes complete with free beer. “The free beer is choose-your-own-adventure—no restrictions on which flavor people pick,” Carletta says.
The favorite brews of the brewers is constantly changing, but they currently enjoy their Cabin Daze IPA, Dr. Azacca Single-Hop Pale Ale, Weissenheimer Hefeweizen and Kombucha.
