Colorful hot air balloons and a crisp January morning make for a stunning photo captured by Charles Fritz.
White Bear Lake resident Charles Fritz awoke early on January 26 last year and drove to Ramsey Beach to photograph the hot-air balloon race, which hadn’t happened for many years. “The picture is taken as the last of the 11 balloons that participated were about to lift off,” he says. “You may only count 10, but the ‘hare’ balloon is the furthest and first balloon to launch and is barely visible in the distant treeline. I was hoping to capture as many balloons as I could before they were scattered to the wind.”
This photo won first place in the Activities category in our inaugural Lens on the Lake photo contest. We’ll begin accepting entries for the 2014 contest in August.
