Charles Dickens meets Agatha Christie in this wildly uplifting murder mystery musical comedy.

Has Edwin Drood been murdered? And if so, then whodunnit? As the light-hearted play-within-a-play with colorful characters nears the end, you vote on the solution in a comical finale.

Talented performers from across the metro area flocked to Lakeshore Players Theatre in White Bear Lake to put on the whodunnit musical comedy "The Mystery of Edwin Drood." Based on Charles Dickens’ last unfinished novel, "Drood" keeps everyone guessing – even the actors – until the end when the audience decides “whodunnit.”

This Rupert Holmes musical is set at the Music Hall Royale featuring an vivacious group of Victorian actors played by skilled twin cities performers. There’s high-spirited song and dance, comedy, romance, a woman disguised as a man, and much more. Edwin Drood goes missing--but is he dead? If so, then who murdered young Drood? Was it John Jasper, the choirmaster with a violent split personality who is in love with his student Rosa Bud? Or was it the good Reverend Crisparkle, the infamous Princess Puffer, or someone else? With a multitude of suspects, the audience gets to write the ending that Charles Dickens didn’t.

The exuberance of the show has infiltrated the cast and crew. "The talent level of everyone involved is outstanding. It is a very fun show to work on," adds Director Paul Reyburn.

"This is one of my all-time favorite musicals," exclaims Lakeshore regular and cast member Anissa Lubbers.

"I enjoy a good murder mystery. Then you add the fact that it is a musical--makes this ia show I can't wait to see," adds Executive Director Joan Elwell.
