Manitou’s mystical bridge photo takes first place in “City Landmarks.”

Frost can seem almost enchanting in the way it transforms our world overnight. This magic was what Karen Dahl was searching for one overcast morning when she grabbed her Nikon D80 and set out for the bridge to Manitou Island. She took many shots from different angles, trying to capture a “mystical view of the bridge.” One of Dahl’s favorite things about photography is “the magic of the perfect shot … it just gives you a kick, gives you a smile,” she says. Her “perfect shot” from that frosty day earned her first place in the City Landmarks category in our Lens on the Lake photo contest.
