How White Bear Lake is Coping with the Coronavirus Crisis

One hand hands another a black paper heart.
These are only a few of the many heartfelt ways you showed just how remarkably thoughtful and kind the people of our area truly are — you are all the best!

Senior Smiles

With musicians singing and playing instruments in the parking lot to entertain residents, to white boards with handwritten messages from residents to worried loved ones (some of them quite witty, such as, “send cookies!”), to “window visits” and much more, Cerenity Senior Care went above and beyond to ensure all their residents felt safe and loved during the pandemic.

A Slice of Kindness

Pizzeria Pezzo, with their ‘Thankful Thursdays,’ delivered free and delicious pizza pies to frontline workers at hospitals, group homes, police and fire stations, and many other places.

Hockey Heroes

White Bear Lake Area High School boys hockey team members volunteered their time to unload eight pallets of food from Second Harvest Heartland, which ultimately provided food to more than 65 households.

Love from Liberty

Students from Liberty Classical Academy packed 10 personalized baskets filled with quarantine essentials—including paper towels, healthy snacks and tissues—for residents in assisted living at Cerenity Senior Care.

Care Bears

The City of White Bear Lake created and posted signs that show two bears social distancing and a message that reads, “No Bear Hugs.”

Chalk Cheer

Graduating seniors from Mahtomedi High School were greeted by uplifting chalk messages as they picked up caps and gowns for their own private graduation celebrations.

Keeping Covered

Mainstream Boutique started selling fashionable face masks for shoppers who wanted to be safe and stylish; orders were taken over the phone and delivered to the car, curbside.

Deliverer in Chief

The one and only Bill Foussard, who is as known for his philanthropic soul as he is for his heartfelt hospitality at Rudy’s Redeye Grill and Best Western Plus hotel, traded in his boss title for the role of delivery driver. Many-a hungry customers were delighted to see Bill pull into their driveways with walleye, a burger, wings—or any of their fabulous food items. And many were, frankly, overjoyed to be able to sip on Rudy’s signature cocktail, the Rudytini, with the creation of an at-home Rudytini kit.
