Life coach Karen Carr offers advice for the new year.

Sometimes our lives just need a little refocusing. Karen Carr, who began her career as a life coach in 2001 to help guide those in times of transition, shares a few tips to make 2015 a great year:

  1. Choose your focus. Realize what your values are and live by them. If relationships are important to you, prioritize them over things like work and other commitments.
  2. Don’t put off “the thing” any longer—you know which thing. Write that novel. Run that marathon. Make 2015 the year it happens.
  3. Reflect and take time for yourself. Whether it’s five minutes or 30, use that time to meditate, take a walk or journal.
  4. Do something generous every day without telling anyone.
  5. Smile, just for yourself.
