Summer is just around the corner, and it can be a hard time for kids who depend on getting their lunch from school. The White Bear Lake Emergency Food Shelf is making sure children from food-insecure families have full stomachs for the summer.
Each pack provides kids with two breakfast items, two additional meals, four snacks and an informational pamphlet about the food shelf. “Most of the products come from Second Harvest, Food Group or is donated by individuals,” operations coordinator Amanda Lindorfer says.
If you would like to get involved, the food shelf is always looking for volunteers. “All packs are assembled on-site by volunteers, individually or in groups,” Lindorfer says. “It’s a great group activity.” Monetary donations are also always accepted, which the food shelf uses to provide kids with fresh, high-quality products.
