Lens on the Lake: Picture-Perfect Pumpkins

Jay Rendall captures a fall-inspired shot of his grandchildren.

“This is a good example of community events bringing us together,” remarks Jay Rendall on his photo Pumpkinmania, which won third place in the 2015 Activities and Events category. Rendall also captured a few other award-winning shots, including Hiking, which appeared in the June issue, and High School Regatta in the September issue.

In this photo, the two cutest pumpkins are Rendall’s grandchildren, then 1 and 3 years old. It was serendipitous that Rendall could capture this moment with his Nikon D7000 at the annual PunkinMania event hosted by the Wildwood Lions. The light shone just right and the kids stayed still just long enough for their grandpa to “catch them in a festive mood,” he says.
