Cindy Cotroneo Fix, co-owner of Cotroneo’s along with her husband Guy, knows wine. Here are a few of her favorite pairings.

Dolcetto means “little sweet one.” Dolcettos are soft easy drinking wines, with low acidity, black fruit flavors and licorice.

Pair with pizza, tomato ragu pasta dishes, cured meats, mild cheddar, fontina.

Barbera is the most widely planted grape in the Piemonte region. Its broad range of styles give endless dinner options. Medium and full-bodied, its high in acidity with notes of cherry.

Pair with: Meat and tomato based pasta dishes, grilled meats, hamburgers, sausage or lightly seasoned beef dishes, lamb, Gorgonzola, Parmesan, fontina.

Nebbiolos can be deceiving with their light red fruit aromas. This wine offers a nice balance of good acidity and heavy tannins. This wine carries red fruit flavors of cherry, raspberries and aromas of rose and anise.

Pair with: Rich heavy meats, game, risotto, Gouda, Parmesan, Gorgonzola, pecorino, sharp cheddar.
