Animal Prayers

St. John in the Wilderness holds annual pet parade and blessing.

Pets are as much a part of the family as anyone else. St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church understands this notion and is providing a special pet event, where families can bring their animal friends to the pet parade and blessing by Reverend Mark Kelm and deacons.

The parade is part of the annual Manitou Days celebration. Humans will walk in the parade with their furry or scaly companions, then end at the St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church for the blessing.

All pets are welcome (as long as they meet city ordinances), from fish to amphibians, crustaceans, reptiles, birds and rodents, as well as the more common cats and dogs. All animals should be properly leashed or caged, and be up to date on vaccinations. Don’t have a pet? Children can bring their beloved stuffed animal to have it blessed.
