Margaux’s Table and Farm Store Serves Accessible Organic Food

Margaux’s Table and Farm Store is making organic food more accessible.
Margaret Doran makes it her mission to bring fresh, organic foods to the area.

“It’s a mission, really,” says self-proclaimed grassroots fighter Margaret Doran regarding teaching customers about and serving organic, healthy food.

Organic food has played a role in Doran’s career since she opened her first restaurant in Chicago in 1986, but it is the primary focus in her newest endeavor, the Farm Store, which she just added this summer to Margaux’s Table, Doran’s farm-to-table eatery that opened in 2015.

The store sells eggs, beef, lamb, pork, produce and much more, “directly from farm to store,” she says. Doran also uses these ingredients from local farms to create grab-and-go meals, such as fresh-baked bread and salads, so that organic food is accessible to her customers living in the fast lane.

Doran emphasizes that her food is affordable, so everyone should feel free to stop by for dinner on Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights, when Margaux’s Table and Farm Store operates as a restaurant.

“I love seeing and getting to know people in town,” Doran says, reiterating that good-for-you food is all about creating healthy, happy people.
