While winning first place in the Activities and Events category for 2017 Lens on the Lake was a wonderful surprise and achievement, Jean Auger takes photos for a simpler purpose.
“I just want to put something out there that’s not negative and just makes people happy,” Auger says. She is drawn to nature photos, just like the photo she entered into the contest.
The prized photo, Reflections on White Bear Lake, features a sailboat resting peacefully on White Bear Lake. The image captures the clarity of the water as it mirrors the sky and was captured by Auger’s iPhone, her camera of choice.
“It’s always right there in my hand,” Auger says. “That’s when you get the greatest pictures.”
