There’s no doubt that reading is a perfect way to engage children and create strong bonds in families, even between long-distance relatives. That’s what Rick and Angela Blesi had in mind when they designed their Sticking with Family book series in 2014—a way for grandparents to connect with their grandchildren and create meaningful memories.
As grandparents themselves, the Blesis know what it’s like to live far away from their grandson Beckett. On one visit, Rick showed Beckett some photos of fun times they had spent together; Beckett lit up—he loved recounting the memories that he and his grandpa had shared. The Blesis wanted other long-distance families to benefit from sharing photos together, so they came up with the idea for a children’s book that uses face stickers to recreate everyday events in the lives of grandparents and their grandchildren.
So what makes these sticker books unique? Instead of using stickers of popular Disney characters or animals, the books are custom-made, with stickers of the child and grandparents’ faces. Simply upload photos and order a book from the Sticking with Family website, and the stickers are personalized for you and your kiddo.
The series now has two sticker books, A Fun Day with Grandpa and A Fun Day with Grandma, and books with other family members will be coming out at a later date. “We’re not just selling a book,” Rick Blesi says. “We’re selling an experience.”
