Accompanied by a pianist and an accordion player, the Silver Harmony Singers, which includes 17 men and 34 women, put on a great show. With the singers from age 60 to their 90s, the tunes of yesteryear are a must.
In its 20th year, the Silver Harmony Singers present Broadway songs to benefit the White Bear Lake Area Food Shelf. “They sing songs from their background, songs the audience recognize,” says director Jane Jones. Past themes included 1920s music and state-themed songs. Religious and armed forces songs are important to the group and they perform them every year.
Admission is free, but donations, such as nonperishable food items, paper towels and monetary gifts, are appreciated. The Silver Harmony Singers certainly bring an abundance of good music and generosity, as nearly 200 people attended the event last year.
