Sail la Vie, a business that is known for their sail repair and specialty recycled sail items, has found smooth sailing since moving into their new space a little over a year ago. After the Boatworks Commons project started in 2012, Sail la Vie found itself in need of a new home. The former city of White Bear Lake public works building is where the store now resides. “Every now and then someone still comes in to pay their water bill,” says owner Brigid Thompson.
Since its start in 2005, Sail la Vie has functioned as a sail repair and canvas shop, but it’s so much more than that. The store offers a variety of bags made from new and recycled sailcloth, a clothing line, and home items like pillows and patio umbrellas. According to Thompson, a designer working on a home featured on the television show Curb Appeal found the perfect nautical umbrella at Sail la Vie.
