Adventurous Reading
White Bear Lake children’s librarian Ann Wahlstrom suggests a great summer read for kids.

Aru Shah and the End of Time, by Roshani Chokshi follows the adventure of 12-year-old Aru during her school break. While her friends are on vacation, Aru is stuck waiting at the Museum of Ancient Indian Art and Culture, where her mom works. While there, Aru accepts a seemingly innocent dare—because curses can’t be real, right?

Teen Choice
Erica Redden, teen services librarian for White Bear Lake, offers a suggestion for a good read for young adults.

Looking to finish the summer with some romance? Meet Cute, a book of short stories about the first moments of new relationships, is sure to beguile you.

Read about finding love in all sorts of places, like through a missing book or hiding from the police in a closet. The stories are fun, clever and perfect for late-summer reading.

Beach Read
White Bear Lake library manager Therese Sonnek suggests a book to keep you company as you soak up the August sun.

Two twin girls are torn apart by a messy divorce when each goes with a different parent in The Identicals, by Elin Hilderbrand. The distance damages their relationship until they are pulled back together by tragedy. The two must work as a team in the face of desperation.

“An excellent beach read for White Bear’s beautiful beaches,” says Sonnek.
