We all look forward to Thanksgiving dinner, from the delicious turkey to the pumpkin pie. And the White Bear Lake Area Emergency Food Shelf (WBLAEFS), along with Kowalski’s Market in White Bear Lake, wants to make sure everyone has a dinner on the holiday table.
From November 1 to Thanksgiving, people can give monetary donations for the Give-a-Gobble Turkey Drive, which started in 2015 to serve those who needed a wholesome Thanksgiving meal. “We expect [to provide for] 400 families or more this year,” says WBLAEFS executive director Andrea Kish-Bailey.
Kowalski’s Market accepts donations at its registers, and community businesses can contribute by being a sponsor for the drive. Additional volunteers are welcome to help distribute goods the Monday of Thanksgiving week at 9 a.m. With $9,000 raised and 30 volunteers last year, the drive anticipates success this November.
