It’s that time of year—lace, hearts and chocolates are in abundance—and nothing says “I love you” quite like the perfect flowers for Valentine’s Day. White Bear Lake florists are ready to help, and have shared some of their top picks and ideas.
Couture Fleur
Lesley Quan, owner of Couture Fleur, suggests forgoing the typical bouquet of red roses in favor of something more personal. “If you’re married and remember what kind of flowers you had at your wedding, that would really make your loved one feel special,” she suggests.
She also notes that budget constraints shouldn’t get in the way of creativity; Couture Fleur sells single roses adorned with ribbons ($6) that can be the perfect romantic touch for a Valentine’s date.
Lakeside Floral
Hal and Joanie Markland, owners of Lakeside Floral, are definite proponents of Valentine’s Day tradition. “Nothing says ‘I love you’ like a beautiful red rose,” says Joanie. But since rose demand goes up at Valentine’s Day, she notes that there are plenty of other options. A small arrangement of mixed blooms (beginning at $30, depending on flowers used) is customizable, so the bouquet can definitely include flowers your loved one will truly appreciate.

White Bear Floral
“Flowers aren’t something that you necessarily need to have,” says White Bear Floral designer Linda Pole. “It’s something special and should be treated that way.” True romance and luxury can be attained by the addition of orchids to a Valentine’s Day bouquet (medium-sized arrangements begin at $50) for a more upscale arrangement.
Florists suggest ordering one to two weeks ahead of time to ensure flower availability, and all offer pickup or delivery service.
