More of a Good Thing

A new Goodthings experience has been in the works for a while, and now the women’s shop, complete with more of their fabulous clothes, shoes and accessories, is open just a few steps away from the original location. And, what’s even cooler? They now have a collection of yoga fashions and activewear in the lower level, and are planning on offering yoga classes sometime in the fall. Sign me up! And if you want all those great gifts, home décor and kids’ items Goodthings is famous for, you can still find them at the original location.  Read more about More of a Good Thing

Noodle Love

It’s wonderful how food can bring folks together. Last night, my husband David and I attended a spaghetti fundraiser for St. Jude’s Food Shelf at Coventry of Mahtomedi. Our plates were brimming with spaghetti and meatballs, and the room was abuzz as folks enjoyed the meal armed with the knowledge they were helping bring food to someone in need. Shoo, Ghost!

Let me just start out by saying I would do pretty much anything for my children, Brittany, Dylan and my son-in-law Mick. Well, this past June, I was put to the test. Okay, it wasn’t that bad, but a series of events made me step out of my comfort zone and opened my eyes to the possibility of….well…ghosts. Yep, ghosts. The Backstory I guess the best place to start would be to give a little background on the matter. Not the ghost, but my daughter. Brittany, from the time she was a wee little mite, has always been afraid of the things that go bump in the night. Read more about Shoo, Ghost!

Happy Accidents

While heading to Sweet Home, a vintage/French-inspired-goods shop in the White Bear Mall, I passed by Catherine Wimmer’s shop, The Ruby Slipper. Intrigued by the cornucopia of colors and quantity of items, I backed up and walked in. In this 675-square-foot space was a fabulous assortment of vintage goods, antiques, handmade items, including beautiful crocheted blankets by, as it turns out, Wimmer’s 87-year-old mother. Silver trays adorned walls, antique baby dolls sat on shelves and vintage cookie jars held a bounty of antique buttons. Read more about Happy Accidents
