Bob Fletcher Is New Vadnais Heights Mayor

Bob Fletcher, Vadnais Heights’ new mayor, shares goals for his term.
Mayor Bob Fletcher is ready to roll up his sleeves and get down to business.

Bob Fletcher is no stranger to public office. His career in civil service began in the early 1980s when he was elected to the St. Paul City Council, followed by 16 years as a Ramsey County sheriff. Late last year, he wrapped up a term as a Vadnais Heights city councilmember before assuming a new position: mayor.

“I’ve found it extremely stimulating to look at the ways we can improve the community through economic development and public safety,” Fletcher says of his desire to run.

Fletcher’s term began in January with big ideas and concrete goals, from promoting economic development through new business opportunities to constructing ice palaces to draw flocks of football fans to Vadnais Heights when next year’s Super Bowl comes to Minneapolis. But all tie back to the same fundamental idea, according to Fletcher: “Making Vadnais Heights a destination, not just a place that people stop along the freeway.”
