White Bear Lake's favorite local ice cream shop is officially open for the season.

Cup and Cone kicked off its 46th year in business March 6. The family-owned ice cream stand closed for the season last October, and fans were eagerly awaiting its return.

In addition to classic flavors like chocolate, vanilla and twist, the shop offers rotating specialty flavors. The monthly menu is posted online, and the first week includes raspberry and pineapple (the pineapple flavor is dairy-free). Plenty of other frozen treat options populate the menu as well.

Cup and Cone opened in 1973 and has been family-owned the whole time, now resting in the hands of Rick Johnstone, son of original owner Keith.
