Tamarack Trick or Treat

Bring your favorite little gremlin to a unique Halloween party designed just for them! Deliberately low-key, this non-spooky event includes games, old fashioned hand-pressed cider and close encounters with live animals. Enjoy friendly-costumed characters handing out treats along the prairie loop trail before enjoying special activities in the Discovery Hollow Nature Play Area. This is a very popular event, so be sure to register early!

Time: 3:00 – 5:30 p.m., register for start times of 3:00, 3:20, 3:40 or 4:00 p.m. Activities take approximately 75 minutes to complete. Read more about Tamarack Trick or Treat

More Free eBooks @ Your Library

Thanks to a new partnership between the Metropolitan Library Services Agency  (MELSA) and 3M Library Systems, users of the 100 metro public libraries in the seven-country metro now have free and fast access to thousands of additional eBooks.

To celebrate there will be a demonstration open to the public at the George Latimer Central Library in downtown St. Paul at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 4 and pop-up stands providing more information at Park and Rides and Farmers’ Markets. Read more about More Free eBooks @ Your Library

This one-day camp offers youngsters the opportunity to explore the world of gardening. Manitou Days

Come to beautiful White Bear Lake to celebrate Manitou Days, a three-week summer festival showcasing some of the greatest things about this lakeside community.

For 47 years this annual summer ritual has been a favorite of locals and visitors. The fun kicks-off with Marketfest and ends on the Fourth of July with a spectacular fireworks display to music over the lake. Read more about Manitou Days

Celebrate the red, white and blue at Marketfest! Food, arts & crafts, a classic car show, kids activities and more will be free for all. Sandcastles and Creature-Building Contest

Get busy in the sand and get creative by participating in this Manitou Days contest. Everyone who registers is awarded a prize. Creation categories are: Best Beast, Best Castle and Most Original. Age categories are 14 and under, 15 and up, and Family. Bring your own shovels, buckets and sand tools. Free. 10 a.m.–noon.
