Supplying White Bear Lake residents with fresh fruits and veggies since the 1970s, this year’s White Bear Lake farmers’ market features about 50 local vendors offering a variety of seasonal goodies. Every Friday you can fill your bag with fresh vegetables, seasonal fruit, breads and scones, maple syrup, fresh flowers, various cheeses, Jonny Pops gelato, all-natural dog and cat treats, and meats.
Ellen Hoiland has been selling flax seed at the market for the past nine years. “I love White Bear Lake’s downtown area,” she says. “We like to get to know our customers on a personal basis, and the friendly environment encourages this.” Fridays through October 25; 8 a.m.–noon, downtown White Bear Lake.
On Saturdays, check out the Mahtomedi farmers’ market, which kicked off its fourth summer this June.
“The neatest thing about the market is that all of the people from Mahtomedi, Willernie and surrounding areas have an opportunity and a place to be neighbors,” says market organizer Tracy Jones.
Located in Triangle Park, the market has about 28 vendors selling a variety of items, including fresh fruits and veggies, gluten-free baked goods, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and fresh flowers to name a few. Local artisans sell handcrafted gifts such as yard art, pottery, custom fishing rods, soaps and lotions. Saturdays through September 22; 8 a.m.–noon; Triangle Park, 93 Mahtomedi Ave.
