In the February issue meet a pair of best friends who have become owners at the Hair Bar.

Adlore “A.J.” Vadnais was still working for Northern Pacific Railroad when he and Louis Crawford partnered to start the White Bear Oil Company in 1923. Vadnais became the sole proprietor after the partnership dissolved in 1928.

 

Julie Linaman has worked at Mad Jacks—as a server, then a bartender, now as a fill-in manager—since it opened in February 2008.

 

The Wedding Expo is returning for its 33rd year at the White Bear Country Inn. Originally created by the former owner of Press Publications, this community event consistently provides a variety of vendors that offer goods and services a bride-to-be would want to have.

Heather Olson and Dena Mielzarek clicked over clipping hair. Both starting at the same salon at the same time, they quickly became friends.

“We vacationed together,” Mielzarek says. “We just went out, and we became good friends pretty quickly,” Olson says.
