Have you always wanted to peek inside some of those historic homes in our area? Now’s your chance to see some of these beauties, as the White Bear Lake Area Historical Society (WBLAHS) will be hosting its ninth annual historic house tour. This self-guided tour will feature 10 different homes and buildings, and draws folks from miles around; throughout the day, up to 700 individuals are expected to make their way into these homes.
This event is great for anyone interested in history and architecture, or those just plain curious about the homes they’ve seen for so long. Some of the homes are entirely historic, while some have historic sites with brand-new construction and décor. “People are interested to see how they are taking a very historic house and making it livable today,” says Sara Markoe Hanson, executive director of the WBLAHS. “They didn’t necessarily make room for big-screen TVs in their homes back when the houses were built.”
