“This picture to me is exactly how I picture my kids and hope how they remember growing up,” says Christy Wolgamot about her winning photo, which took second place in the People & Families category in the Lens on the Lake photo contest. Late last summer, Wolgamot captured a beautiful moment between her daughter and her father, who is just out of camera range. Using her Canon 5D Mark II with an attached 24-70 mm lens, Wolgamot began snapping pictures off the dock.
“We swim off our dock all the time, night after night, and my oldest, Hailey, in the picture, just loves, loves, loves the water,” says Wolgamot. The love of water and the beautiful summer evening could have kept them out there all night. “I was down with them as they were swimming before sunset and just loved how she was watching Dad in the water—I think they were doing some type of contest.”
