Birchwood poet offers tips and tricks for penning the perfect poem.
As a published poet, Kathy Blegen-Huntley has plenty of experience writing verses for loved ones. Here, she shares some tips for writing a romantic Valentine’s Day poem like a pro:
1. Don’t try to rhyme; it can be limiting and ending up sounding corny. Instead, pick an image or a smell that reminds you of your loved one and write down thoughts about it.
2. Always keep a pen and paper nearby; you don’t want to lose the romantic lines you think of when inspiration strikes.
3. Don’t judge your writing too harshly; it’s for someone you love and should come freely from the heart.
