Lisa Stonehouse knows her way around the kitchen. Her mother’s cooking skills, or lack thereof, forced Stonehouse to learn how to make meals her and her brother would enjoy at a very young age.

When it comes to eating out, kids can be a chef’s toughest critics. Picky eaters abound in that 10-and-under category, so we decided to round up some of the best of the kids’ menu items in the White Bear Lake area for you and your mini gourmet.

For Pat Cranston, the concession business runs in the family. The White Bear resident opened Daryl’s Dog House in 2013, but his grandfather, Daryl, got into the business after he retired roughly 35 years before that. And he’s not alone.

The Hippodrome, or the “Hipp,” where most of our young hockey players learn to skate, was constructed as the County Fair Exhibition Building in 1926. The building was originally 100 feet by 200 feet and was constructed by local contractor W.H.
