Grammy Award-winning composer and lyricist Harry Connick Jr. shares the adventurous tale of The Happy Elf, which is set to delight audiences at Lakeshore Players Theatre this holiday season. Eubie, a delightful elf at the North Pole, wishes to share Christmas joy with the gloomy town of Bluesville. Determined to get Bluesville off the Naughty List, Eubie and his friends head off on the quest that will bring a smile to the naughty children of the town.
Ben Ratkowski, the artistic director of Lakeshore Players Theatre, is excited for opening night. “I’m looking forward to seeing all the families come in and watch their faces light up from the magic that is happening on stage,” Ratkowski says.
The play, which will feature 19 talented actors, hits the stage December 1 for a special preview night, and December 2 for opening night, which will be followed by a post-show reception. Performances, held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday, will run until December 18.
“Christmas is my favorite holiday,” says Ratkowski. “I want to make sure that the Christmas magic happens.”
Capital Campaign
There will be an option for audience members to give donations to the Light the Stage! capital appeal campaign focused on building a new performing arts center; so far, $4.5 million of the $6.2 million required for the project has been raised.
