St. Stephen Lutheran Church offers a Living, Breathing Bethlehem

Nativity sets and manger scenes may be common sights at this time of year, but imagine being able to step into one. At the annual living nativity at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, it becomes possible. “We want people to go through and interact with the scene and the characters,” says Matt Millard, performing arts director at St. Stephen. “It’s not so much a performance as an experience. It’s very family-based.”

St. John in the Wilderness Hosts Holiday Concert

White Bear Lake is making its way onto the Minnesota music scene with the WaterMusic Concert Series, now in its second year. The program, at St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church, consists of four concerts throughout the calendar year, and it is an ambitious endeavor: The performers are nationally recognized, and the music draws an audience from the entire metro area. “This is the level of music that brings in artists who are of the caliber, if not higher, than, anything you’d find in the Twin Cities,” says Henry Lebedinsky, artistic director of the WaterMusic Series.
