Kevin Kling‒playwright, storyteller, author and National Public Radio (NPR) commentator‒ will take the stage of the Chautauqua Fine Arts Center as part of the Wildwood Artist Series. The series offers reasonably priced, quality entertainment while raising funds to support Mahtomedi Public school music programs and performing arts scholarships. Kling will be joined on stage by accordionist Simone Perrin, a Minneapolis-based performer and featured guest on A Prairie Home Companion.
“Simone and I are really looking forward to the Wildwood Artist Series,” Kling says. “We’ll be bringing stories and songs that celebrate Minnesota and the promise of spring. Get ready to laugh, maybe shed a tear, with memories unique to our winter wonderland. When you freeze paradise, it lasts a little longer.’”
A life-long Minnesotan, Kling knows our frigid winters all too well. After growing up in Brooklyn Park and Maple Grove, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from Gustavus Adolphus College. He has since performed onstage internationally, but is perhaps best known for his commentary on NPR’s All Things Considered. Kling’s literary works highlight stories filled with childhood memories, holiday gatherings and sibling adventures. His unique gift for presenting autobiographical tales in a humorous and heartwarming fashion has endeared him to audiences across the globe.
