More Free eBooks @ Your Library

Thanks to a new partnership between the Metropolitan Library Services Agency  (MELSA) and 3M Library Systems, users of the 100 metro public libraries in the seven-country metro now have free and fast access to thousands of additional eBooks.

To celebrate there will be a demonstration open to the public at the George Latimer Central Library in downtown St. Paul at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 4 and pop-up stands providing more information at Park and Rides and Farmers’ Markets. Read more about More Free eBooks @ Your Library

White Bear Township Day

The seventh annual White Bear Township Day will feature free music and entertainment. Last year, the event brought in 2,500 music lovers, and higher attendance is expected this year. In addition to the tunes, the celebration will feature kids’ activities, food and beverages, arts and crafts by local artists and a historical display. Musical groups include the Katy Vernon Band, Roxxy Hall Band, and Rubber Soul, a Beatles tribute band. The evening will conclude with a firework display. AARP Refresher Course

Help keep the roads a safer place, all while saving money on your car insurance premiums. This class is offered for people 55 years and older who have already taken the full AARP defensive driving course in the past and need to renew their certificate. Gangster Bus Tour

Come along for an adventurous outing to explore the hideouts and haunts of the 1930s era gangsters who laid low in the cottages around White Bear and Bald Eagle Lakes. Sights include a Mahtomedi speakeasy and the location of a notorious dance club.
