Manitou Days

Come to beautiful White Bear Lake to celebrate Manitou Days, a three-week summer festival showcasing some of the greatest things about this lakeside community.

For 47 years this annual summer ritual has been a favorite of locals and visitors. The fun kicks-off with Marketfest and ends on the Fourth of July with a spectacular fireworks display to music over the lake. Read more about Manitou Days

Open Knitting

The Knitting Room is open on weekends for knitters to sit, knit and chat, so you can get a jump on your next piece while you make new friends or catch up with old ones. Need to brush up on your computer skills? Let the great people at White Bear Lake Library help you out. You can learn how to surf the Internet, set up an email account, get help working on a document and ask any questions you might have. Manitou Days Beach Dance

Bring your blanket & lawn chairs and kick up some sand under the stars, with live music from the Free and Easy Band.

Operation Kidsafe Child Safety Event

Join Delmonico Dance, local law enforcement, first responders and Operation Kidsafe for a free child safety fair. There will be an ice cream truck for the kids.  Parents will receive a lifetime record of their child's digital fingerprints and a form that is ready to hand to law enforcement in an emergency, as well as valuable safety tips. Drop-In Discoveries

Calling all bird lovers. During this summer’s Drop-In Discoveries series, local experts will be on hand with resources such as basic guides to birding, binoculars, recordings and more, to help everyone from kids to adults dive into bird observation in their own neighborhoods. Preschool and Baby Story Time

Get to know other parents at preschool and baby story time at the Wildwood Branch Library. Participate in stories, songs, finger plays and more, to encourage the development of early literacy skills. Baby story time is for children up to 24 months, and preschool story time is for children preschool through kindergarten age. Siblings are welcome. Free. State Arbor Month Celebration and Minnesota Tree Climbing Championships

This year the DNR is celebrating Arbor Day and Arbor Month by encouraging families to play in natural settings such as your backyard, a nearby woodlot, or forested area.

The 2014 State Arbor Month Celebration will be at Oak Hill Park in St. Louis Park. The event will give families a chance to play with nature, while watching some of the best tree climbers in the state compete at the Minnesota Tree Climbing Championship.

Water Makes Music

This event is a result of the partnership between MacPhail Center for Music and the Metropolitan Library Service Agency to provide public programs at libraries demonstrating ways to incorporate music and stories for children to create a connection between music and literacy. The Water Makes Music event explores lakes, rivers and oceans and finds the steady beat in all of them through musical play. Limit of 20 children. For children birth through age 5.
