Give Back at the Annual Lions Club Sportsmen’s Dinner

It’s almost time for the Wildwood Lions Club’s 30th annual Sportsmen’s Dinner, which raises money for Lions Club charities, including local Boy and Girl Scout troops.
   
The March 3 event will be held at the Lake Elmo Inn Event Center and includes dinner, a silent auction and prize drawing for a deluxe fly-fishing trip to Ontario, perfect for the ultimate sportsman. White Bear Lake Seniors Enjoy Holiday Dinner with Santa

What’s it like to have dinner with Santa Claus? Does he wear a bib over his red suit? Do the reindeer hog the mashed potatoes? No one knows Santa better than White Bear Lake’s Bill Foussard, who has hosted an annual Dinner with Santa for the last 27 years, with 13 of those events taking place in White Bear Lake. Mahtomedi’s Annual Tree of Light Event Returns

The Tree of Light and Remembrance event in Mahtomedi Triangle Park, now in its 13th year, does double-duty during the holiday season. Those wishing to offer a memorial or honor a loved one may purchase a light for the tree from the Mahtomedi Area Food Shelf; the names of those being remembered will be read at a special lighting ceremony. The proceeds help to fund the charity during its busiest time; last year, with 552 lights sold, the event raised $7,300.

PunkinMania is a treat for kids of all ages.

PunkinMania is as much an annual tradition in this neck of the woods as is carving pumpkins. And it all began in the 1980s, when Wildwood Lions Club member Dr. Lee Armstrong came up with the idea when the club was in need of a fall event. The annual event soon became a town celebration, and the American Legion of Mahtomedi joined the Lions to help make the event a success. The rest, as they say, is history. Celebrate the sixth annual White Bear Township Day

Don’t miss this year’s White Bear Lake Township Day on September 14 at Polar Lakes Park. Festivities will start at 2 p.m. and include fun for the whole family, with children’s games and activities, a petting zoo, interactive displays from community organizations like the fire department, food vendors, an arts and crafts market, and live entertainment, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.Named the new director of White Bear Lake Township Day last January, Angela Homic hopes to showcase all of the artists, services and vendors the area has to offer. White Bear Lions Club Sponsors 13th Annual Bear Water Run

Dust off your running shoes for the 13th annual Bear Water Run on September 14. Hosted by the White Bear Lions Club, the run brought out about 200 runners during its first year, and now brings out more than 800 runners to hit the pavement, says co-director Mike Machus. Runners can choose from a 10-mile course that starts at Ramsey County Beach and continues around the lake, or opt for the 20-mile race, perfect for those training for the upcoming Twin Cities Marathon.
