The flagpole along Highway 61 at the south end of Railroad Park was the result of a community expression of patriotism. During the summer of 1939, the effort to bring a municipal flagpole to our city was launched.

For musical duo John Evans and Dan Perry, regardless of the venue, the mission is always the same: “To make sure people feel better when they leave than when they came in,” says longtime White Bear Lake resident Evans, who moved to WBL in 1971, with his wife, Cathy.

Michael Djupstrom is the youngest White Bear Lake Area High School alumnus to be inducted into the White Bear Lake Area Alumni Association. There are 23 prior recipients, all graduating between 1927 and 1966, though anyone can be nominated 10 years after graduating.

 

During this annual extravaganza, participating stores offer sales, specials and promotional items to get people in the shopping mood, and is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.

 

Carla Scholz didn’t have to travel far to capture this beautiful view; it was right outside her window where she spies many incredible sunsets. “At least once a week, when there’s a good sunset, I take a photo,” Scholz says.

 

Tracey Gobran Lund founded Summit Pilates after many years of instructing Pilates and barre in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area; she started practicing Pilates herself about 15 years ago.
